This concert is sold out. The event is presented by Good Day Berlin Kultur und Veranstaltungen GmbH. Mulatu Astatke is on his farewell tour with his new album "Mulatu Plays Mulatu". He is known as the pioneer of Ethio Jazz, blending jazz, Latin American influences, and traditional Ethiopian music. He plays vibraphone, congas, percussion, keyboards, and organ. He studied at Trinity College of Music in London and Berklee College of Music in Boston. His music was featured in Jim Jarmusch's film "Broken Flowers" in 2005. He founded the Jazz Village in Addis Ababa, a music school and club, and hosted radio and TV shows about Ethiopian music history. In summer 2024, he had a US tour including the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival. The album "Mulatu Plays Mulatu" features his big band and Ethiopian musicians.
