The BBC calls him "King of Sound, Ruler of Beats." He is a two-time UK Beatbox Champion, MC, stage comedian, gifted improviser, producer, and pioneer of live looping. Those who have seen him perform live will never forget the spectacle. Darren Foreman, from Britain, is particularly known for his unique live sets. He pushes the boundaries of human beatboxing by creating all sounds live, processing them through loop and effects devices, and creating complete songs. His tools: mouth, nose, throat - sound imitations and voice effects in perfect harmony. To ensure spontaneity and creativity are not hindered by technology, he developed Beardytron, arguably the most extensive and flexible live production system in the world, to produce his real-time workflows and live improvisations on stage in studio quality. He also gained fame as the beatboxing super housewife in "Kitchen Diaries" on YouTube. He ironically titled his debut album "I Done A Album." It features an incredible range of disparate tracks from strange electronic experiments, electronica, dubstep, funk, drum'n'bass, to psychedelic dub. He recently collaborated with Emmy-nominated cellist and composer Rob Lewis on the immersive project "Kings Without Kingdoms," which also includes an album. The sound is characterized by classical film scores, cinematic sound design, and experimental, raw, and glitchy sound textures. All sounds consist of Beardyman's voice and Rob's cello, processed in real-time via live rigs and then further refined. What Beardyman does on stage is difficult to explain to the uninitiated - it must be experienced. He is more than a musician or MC; he is a traveler between the worlds of hip-hop, performance art, and comedy. His previous performances at Gretchen have been unforgettable.
