Cape Town's iconic ballroom celebration is back. Ballroom culture originated in the 1980s within New York’s Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities as a response to exclusion. Today, ballroom is a global celebration of identity, resilience, and artistry. LEGACY is for everyone, welcoming queer and trans individuals, women, femme-presenting folks, and their allies. This event is a tribute to Kirvan Fortuin, also known as Kirvan Le Cap, the founding mother of the House of Le Cap. It is co-created by Rori Bingham and Edition Events and aims to be a safe, joyful, and affirming space for Cape Town’s trans-feminine and gender non-conforming communities. Edition Events was founded in 2021 and focuses on curating safe, inclusive, and inspiring experiences. The minimum age for this event is 21.
